Did I really just spend the whole weekend studying???

(this corresponds to the weekend before I came to Italy. So of March 30th)

Mmkay this will be shorter than is merited but I want to write about ITALIA not about my miz weekend studying… but I feel like I must document it so it becomes a known fact that I DIDDDD indeed study while on Erasmus in Spain!

That week was wonderful. As in the week I got back from Sevilla. This is probably due to the fact that Neva had a huge group of her friends from Slovenia visiting. If I wasn´t convinced to go visit Slovenia during the summer when I backpack a bit in July, you can bet I am COMPLETELY sold now. Her friends were wonderrrrfulll and with our crazy shenanigans Tuesday, Wednesdsay, and Thursday, I had one of the most fun weeks I had had in a while. It was great to get my mind off things J
love my Slovenian B
So yes, that week was wonderful. Went out everyday, went to class still buzzing, shacked in the hostal on campus with the Slovenians to facilitate going to class still buzzing. Wonderful. Then Friday rolls around and they decide that they were probably going to take it easy because we all had big plans to go to Alicante for a Spring Break themed beach party with DJs and bars and everything. They were planning on renting a car and driving down Saturday morning and coming back Sunday. I, unfortunately, couldn´t play the whole weekend because I had my first round of tests. Aka one stat test Monday and one microbiology test Tuesday that I was making up since I had missed it due to being in Sevilla (sawry I am an Erasmus student and yes, missed a test because I was traveling… to my defense I NEVER have classes on Mondays, so when I bought my ticket it didn´t occur to me that my testing period would be Monday. Whatever, no pasa nada). Regardless, wasn´t going to be able to do the whole rent the car thing, but I diddd want to go to the Alicante party so I decided to stay in Friday night as well to begin my studies.

I woke up the next morning really early, like 8 (for a Saturday, it´s good. For spain, better. Erasmus, almost a miracle) to start to study. Had a mini panic attack when I realized I understood like NOTHING of statistics… so I just  studied microbiology and talked to my dad via whatsapp. He does such a good job of calming me down J

Around 1030 Neva texts me to make sureee I am coming to Alicante since they were on their way to the center to get the car. I had plans to catch the 12 o´clock bus.

Around 1115 I get another text from Neva: “We can´t go. We need 300 euros on a visa and no one has that large of a limit. Shit.”

Sad news: no Alicante Spring Break party. Good news: I hadn´t bought my ticket (I had tried the night before but it didn´t want to work) and I had more time to study.

So yeah studied allll day Saturday, went to the beach for like 4 hours, and returned to study. Sunday, allll I did was study as well. As strange as this may sound, I didn´t realize that I like, missed studying. I seriously had studied MAYBE 3 hours all together since I have arrived to Europe before this point. Now that I was putting in a large amount of time, although I must say it may have been the least productive studying I have ever done, I felt like I was doing something. Seriously, Tech has like ruined me.

I took my test Monday. The stat one. It was horrible. Like, I seriously compare it to a GT physics test where I knew how to do one, knew how to do the second one almost completely, the third one I had a guess, the fourth one I was like WHAT IS THIS I NEVER HAVE SEEN THIS I AM GONNA FAIL.
So that was fun.

Then, moved on to studying for my next test: microbiology. Memorization is my jam so I didn´t really have any trouble studying for that one and having done poorly on the stat test I was even more determined to do well.

I was supposeee to take it Tuesday morning at 930 and meet my professor at her office. Waited until 12. She never came. So I sent her an email asking when I could take. She never responded. I spent the rest of my day planning for my Italy trip since I still hadn´t started and I was to leave two days later. However, since I didn´t end up taking the test, I couldn´t let myself go out…

Next morning, I decide to not go to microbiology class because I was contacting Couch Surfer hosts (I´ll get into that later) and go to her office five minutes after our supposed class ends, so at 10 05. I end up waiting outside her office for  THREE HOURS. She finallyyy shows up and says oh, sorry, no pasa nada! Yeah no pasa nada except I have wasted 5 hours of my life waiting outside your damn office and was not able to plan my Italy trip or go out in peace.

En total, that test was quite easy. Just soooo annoying that it was prolonged for two days so I wasn´t able to go out with my friends before leaving for Italy early early the next morning.
